About Me

Hey there, and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Micah Barber, and I am a 23 year old wildlife photographer.

Ever since I can remember I've had such a passion for wildlife. Growing up in Central Florida I was exposed to many wonderful species that I quickly began to study and spend time with in the field. As a kid I was always picking up snakes & lizards (still am) trying to identify them, or snorkeling a reef / spring head in hopes of finding an interesting creature. As I grew older my obsession increased and I began to use my GoPro to video animals that I would find. I started taking stills from the videos I took and turned them into my first ever wildlife photographs, and from there I was hooked. Of course now years later, my quality of gear has much improved, switching from one camera to the next - but the passion remains the same.

The real reason I do all of this however, is for a much greater purpose. God created me with such passion for what I do. All the knowledge I have about animals, about their environment / ecosystems, and about photography - was because God instilled in me this interest and talent. It's all about Him. In all honesty, all I do is push buttons on a camera. It's God who has designed such a beautiful Earth, and I just have the privilege of capturing His glory through the photographs I take of His creation. All of the glory is Jesus'. My aim is to use my gifting to bring people moments of awe for God because of the animals and landscapes I love so much. On top of this, provide awareness for conservation and real world problems our Earth faces.

I'm currently an (online) student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks studying Fisheries & Marine Sciences, and have a hunger for species awareness and conservation. After I graduate, my wife and I plan to be missionaries to the island nation of Curacao, where hopefully in my free time can continue to capture the beauty of God's creation.

Thank you so much for your interest in my work :)

God bless,

Micah Barber
