Galaxy Eyes

Winner of 3rd Best in Show at the 2024 Tavares Art in the Park, this image captures the intricate beauty of an endangered Hawksbill sea turtle - from the textured details of its face to the mesmerizing depth of its eye. One of my all-time favorite photos, this moment was made even more special by the turtle’s natural curiosity. Resting within a reef crevice at 60 feet deep in Cozumel, Mexico, she locked eyes with me before swimming closer, as if just as intrigued by me as I was by her.
